Writers Wanted

The aim of this site is to deliver provocative and thought-provoking articles about politics, society, sports and other topics in an entertaining, brief format that will engage readers.

To that end, we welcome submissions from prospective writers who are interested in contributing their opinions. Quality content and personality is what we seek. Characteristics such as proficiency in English grammar, clarity, humor, brevity, expression of opinions and love of writing is what we want. Mundane, aimless, generic articles devoid of humor, originality or individuality of the writer is what we don’t want here.

Articles will typically encompass original content of under 500 words. They will usually take the form of ‘opinion news’ i.e., a news item or other published story (with proper attribution of the source) followed by commentary (the writer’s take). Articles may also take the form of an ‘editorial’ or observations about anything interesting. The key is making it a worthwhile read.

Whatever the form, it is imperative that articles be original submission to this site and not a copy-paste or similar content taken from another site, nor a link to a story with little to no accompanying substantive commentary. It is also expected that a writer is able to back up any factual assertions (i.e., ‘fake news’ and ‘alternative facts’ will not be tolerated).

For the time being, there are no deadlines or submission requirements per se. Articles can be posted at your leisure.

If you are interested in signing up as a writer/author, submit the following form and be sure to include your screen name, area of interest for writing and email or other form of contact.

Alabama Police Agency Blames Satan for Homicides

A rural police department in Alabama,USA is blaming the fictional literary character ‘Satan’ for a spike in their homicide rate. According to Time, the Opp Police Department took to Facebook to post the following nonsense in all-caps mangled grammar and syntax:

“THESE MURDERS HAVE BEEN DONE BY OUR YOUNG PEOPLE. THIS IS HAPPENING BECAUSE WE HAVE TURNED AWAY FROM GOD AND EMBRACED SATAN. WE MAY HAVE NOT MEANT TO DO SO BUT, WE HAVE. IT IS TIME TO ASK FOR GOD’S HELP TO STOP THIS”

Getting past the nonsensical childish absurdity of invoking fictional literary characters and blaming real world problems on society’s acceptance or rejection of them, I am left to wonder if by turning away from GOD and embracing SATAN, the crackerjack who wrote that missive was thinking about his deeply religious Red State embracing a serial adulterer and serial lying, narcissistic, unstable, self-interested elected official with the temperament and petulance of a twelve year old brat who didn’t get the X-Box game that he wanted for Christmas. Somehow, based on his writing sample, I doubt it.

I wonder if by turning away from GOD maybe he meant that we are becoming an un-Christian, greedy egocentric driven country only concerned about ourselves and paying as little in taxes for the common good as possible with a dwindling compassion for helping the needy, the poor and the hungry. The embodiment of the current President.

After all, doesn’t the Bible tell us to speak for those who can’t speak for themselves and to honor God by helping and being compassionate to the needy while those oppress them show contempt for God? Should we also blame Satan for that or should we look at ourselves in the mirror?

I am not sure which god this misguided public official was talking about embracing but judging by scriptures the Christian god would certainly frown upon turning our backs on the most needy and vulnerable while a slew of CEO billionaires who get paid millions each week receive tax cuts so that they can reap and keep even more millions for themselves.

I think the Christian god would also frown upon embracing an immoral, narcissistic, greedy billionaire con man who surrounds himself with criminals and who himself is under multiple criminal investigations and who only cares about himself. Not to mention that he demonstrably violates at least one of the the Ten Commandments several times on a daily basis.

Maybe the Opp, Alabama PD does have a point about embracing Satan.
